Fred Hutchinson reported fishing for snapper between P2 and the Fawkner Beacon mid-week. Launching at Altona boat ramp at 4:30am, caught 7 snapper to 4kg in 2 hours, keeping the 3 largest, and returning to the ramp leaving them biting. Most fish caught on Californian Squid baits.

Junior member Chris Gusman reported his cousin has been fish offshore from Lorne and catching numbers of snapper 2-3kg.

Member John Wiltshire returned from his annual 3 month trip fishing to Northern NSW and QLD. Fished some new dams this time, including Glenlyon Dam, where he caught Yellowbelly on lures, averaging 2 - 3 fish per day. Reported that the dam was a good place to fish with high banks, and therefore sheltered areas could be found even if the wind was up. Also fished Copeton Dam which though only 20% full was a huge body of water. Caught Yellowbelly to 2-3kg. Plenty of good bush camping areas and a caravan park on the lake.

Jack Maugher fished Mallacouta over the cup weekend with his father Wayne. The first 2 days they caught small bream, trevally and flathead. On the third day, they fished back in Tamboon Inlet, which had low water with the entrance being open to the sea. Here they caught 7 bream on vibes from 40 to 45 cm total length.

Steve Wright fished offshore from the Gold Coast on a charter and encountered any number of Kingfish from 6 to 9kg on knife jigs. Also snapper to 6kg on squid baits.

Glen D'Cruz fished Lorne Pier with limited success. After sunset there was plenty of squid in the water to be seen, but no-one was catching any despite all the usual methods being attempted. The following day, the weather had turned, and a large seal stationed under the pier was suspected to be putting the fish off, though some small trevally were caught.

"Shakey" Gardam reported that the Yellas and Redfin are starting to fire in Lake Eppalock.
