2012 Report and Results

Post date: Mar 07, 2012 11:19:52 AM

The 2012 Inter Club Masters was fished by 5 angling clubs - last years winner Greensborough Angling Club, Preston Angling Club, East Keilor RSL Angling Club, Fawnker and Merlyston Angling Club, and the host club Essendon Anglers Club. A total of 41 anglers fished the competition which was a great turnout.

Weather conditions on the day were good, but heavy rain in the week leading up to the competition meant that the river was quite discoloured with a heavy flush of fresh water. It was feared that this would put the fish off, and this was the case with numbers of fish being caught not indicative of how well the river was fishing only weeks earlier.

The results were as follows,

Preston Angling Club fished 12 anglers for 2 bream for a total weight of 790grams. This equated to an average per angler of 65.83grams.

East Keilor RSL Angling Club fished 6 anglers for 1 bream of 455grams. This equated to an average per angler of 75.83grams.

Fawkner and Merlyston Angling Club fished 7 anglers for 3 bream for a total weight of 1112grams. This equated to an average per angler of 158.85grams.

Greensborough Angling Club fished 9 anglers for 5 bream for a total weight of 1993grams. This equated to an average per angler of 221.44grams.

Essendon Anglers Club fished 7 anglers for 4 bream for a total weight of 1697grams. This equated to an average per angler of 242.42grams.

Essendon Anglers Club had the highest average per angler and were awarded the 2012 Inter Club Masters Trophy.

Heaviest bream was caught by Adrian Smajila of Essendon Anglers Club at 510grams.

Heaviest bag of bream was caught by Adrian Smajila of Essendon Anglers Club at 973grams.
