Laurie Benbow ... report from the north!

We are currently at Lucinda N.Q. which is on the mainland at the lower end of Hichinbrook Island. Its been blowing at 20-30Knts for most of this week which makes it a bit difficult to fish outside where most of the fish are being caught. We did get out on Monday for a couple of hours when the wind dropped to about 10knts and caught some Barred Javelin Fish (Grunter) to 47cm which was fun. The fish were out about 3kms along the side of the sugar loader which is a pier that sticks out from shore for about 6kms - its a long pier. As its still blowing at 20kts today we will have to settle for some creek fishing this arvo.

We also caught some good Bass at Lake Cania all just over the 1 kg mark and a Saratoga, all on Lures. We then went to Karumba for a week where the fishing was very slow for everyone. However, I did manage to catch a Blue Threadfin Salmon and Maureen caught a Grunter. Some brag shots are attached.

We are off to Yeppon on Saturday, which is about 800km from here so it will take us a couple of days towing the van. Mainly creek and inlet fishing there which is less dependant on the wind being low.
