Fred Hutchinson fished Altona between P2 and the Fawkner beacon in early January for a bag limit catch of snapper to 65cm.

Jack Maugher fished the Bemm River over the Christmas break with a local junior angler for countless bream, that where still mainly in the river. Also, fished for Estuary Perch with live prawn in the snags. 13 fish were hooked, but only 1 landed at 49cm, which is a great fish. The largest Bream was 43cm. Also caught Luderick to 1.3kg.

Laurie Benbow fished Lake Eildon at Frasier National Park. Reported good sites available (unpowered), good toilets, and high water (in the lake, not toilets!).

Largest trout was caught on a Vibe, with fish from 600g to 800g being caught. Dropped a number of fish on Tasmania devils, until the wire was removed from the body of the lure, and a hook was tied straight through to the end of the line.

Glen D’Cruz fished Altona on the 20th December with members Ray Dellamarta and Darren Wise for 5 snapper, the largest around 4kg. Also fished Port Campbell over the Christmas holiday period. Off the rocks caught snapper to 38cm, and whiting to 37cm of the pier.

Glen then fished a charter off Port Campbell with a large Barracouta having to be wrestled from a seal. Glen (mostly) won the battle, with the seal only making off with the tail section.

On returning to Melbourne, Glen then fished a marathon 15 hour overnight session in a boat off Rye, for 2 snapper around 60cm, 8 squid, some flathead and whiting.

Frank Volinino fished the Murray River at Cobram for a 60cm cod, caught on a Orgee Lure. The river was running high and fast.

“Shakey” Gardam reports of Gummy Sharks being caught from the beach at Marlo.
